Protecting an Appliance Repair Business From Google’s Geo-Stuffing Crackdown

The Starting Point
A Ticking Time Bomb in the Service List
Appliance Repair Guy had a working Google Business Profile with roughly 50 services listed. On the surface, everything looked fine. But when we audited the profile as part of our geo-stuffing compliance review, we found what we’ve seen across dozens of profiles — service names packed with city names, county names, and location keywords that violate Google’s April 2026 enforcement policies.
This isn’t a cosmetic issue. Google has been suspending profiles for exactly this kind of optimization. One day the profile is generating leads, the next day it’s gone — along with all the reviews, posts, and visibility the business built over time.
What We Did
Service Name Cleanup — 5 Violations Cleaned
We audited all ~50 services and identified 5 that contained geographic keywords in their service names. Each one was cleaned — the location keywords were removed while preserving the core service description. The result is a compliant service list that describes what the business does without triggering Google’s automated enforcement systems.
This was a targeted, preventative intervention. The profile didn’t need a full rebuild — it needed the landmines removed before one of them went off.
By the Numbers
Services Audited: ~50
Violations Found and Fixed: 5 geo-stuffed service names
Risk Mitigated: Profile protected from suspension under Google’s 2026 enforcement policies
